ANTONIO COLOCCI

Antonio Colocci, born in Jesi on September 25, 1820, took part in the events of the Italian Risorgimento, beginning with the Roman Republic, where he served as a deputy in the Constituent Assembly. After the restoration of papal rule, he went into exile in San Marino and Tuscany, where he lived for some time. There he married Enrichetta Vespucci in 1853.

After returning to Jesi with a commitment not to engage in political activity, he became involved in the failed insurrection of 1859 and was forced to flee again to Florence, where his wife and children, Adriano and Maria Cristina, later joined him. He served as a deputy in the 8th and 9th legislatures of Parliament and became a senator of the Kingdom in 1879. He died in Jesi on April 4, 1908.
