Frederick II Museum - Stupor Mundi

From collections of sacred art to Renaissance masterpieces,
right through to multimedia museums: in Jesi, history and culture come to life in unique settings.

The Frederick II Museum – Stupor Mundi is the first museum in the world to retrace the life and work of Frederick II of Swabia.

Presented in the historical Palazzo Ghislieri, a palace overlooking the square where the great emperor was born and which today bears his name, the museum is divided into sixteen themed rooms that range from the moment of his birth to his coronation.

From the historical memory of Frederick’s castles to the great legislative works such as the Constitutions of Melfi, from relations with the Church to the Crusades, from his interest in falconry to his passion for culture and knowledge and much more.

The story unfolds through interactive installations, 3D animations, multimedia contents and architectural and historical costume reconstructions.

A true journey through time to experience the biography that changed history.
