Diocesan Museum
From collections of sacred art to Renaissance masterpieces,
right through to multimedia museums: in Jesi, history and culture come to life in unique settings.
The Diocesan Museum of Jesi was founded in 1966 in order to collect, preserve and enhance the countless vestiges of religious art coming from Jesi and the territory around (Vallesina).
It is housed in some rooms of the 18th-century Palazzo Ripanti Nuovo in Piazza Federico II, next to the Cathedral of San Settimio.
It is accessed through the Sala Valeri, which hosts numerous events including concerts, conferences and shows.
The museum presents more than 200 pieces such as paintings, sculptures, religious accessories and relics that belonged to the churches of the diocese and date from the 4th to the 19th century.
Among the exhibits is the large wooden Processional Cross and the valuable collection of paintings by Ercole Ramazzani, a pupil of Lorenzo Lotto.
The museum also has a section of Contemporary Art with works by the region’s leading artists.
