Pergolesi and Spontini Rooms
From collections of sacred art to Renaissance masterpieces,
right through to multimedia museums: in Jesi, history and culture come to life in unique settings.
The lobby of the G. B. Pergolesi Theatre houses the Pergolesi Rooms, where a permanent exhibition commemorates the great composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.
The exhibition is divided into four stages:
Pergolesi in Jesi, with a rich documentation of the musical life of the 18th century in Jesi including his education;
Pergolesi in Naples, with the portraits of the great musicians of the Neapolitan School, some of whom were his maestros and the places linked to his works;
Pergolesi in Pozzuoli, with images describing the last stage of the composer’s short life;
Opera and “reputation”, with precious opera librettos, manuscripts, prints of stage sets and ancient editions.
Busts, lithographic portraits, paintings, an Érard piano as well as manuscripts and autographed documents recalling the artistic life of the composer Gaspare Spontini are on display in the Spontini Rooms, partly housed in the theatre’s neoclassical foyer and partly in the lobby.
