Archaeological Museum

From collections of sacred art to Renaissance masterpieces,
right through to multimedia museums: in Jesi, history and culture come to life in unique settings.

The Archaeological Museum is the place where the archaeological finds unearthed in Jesi and its surrounding territory are unveiled and displayed.

It is set in the old stables of Palazzo Pianetti and was opened to the public in 2017. The first pieces of the collection date back to 1785, when the governor of Jesi Monsignor Cappellari handed over to the local administration a group of Roman sculptures found the year before at the convent of San Floriano in Jesi. The finds are displayed in chronological order and divided in three sections: Prehistory, Protohistory and the Roman Age. Some of the most significant finds are the grave artifacts from the ancient Picenian civilisation and the statues dating back to the Julio-Claudian dinasty. There is also a rich collection of Dauni vases which became part of the collection in 1983 following a private donation.
