Piazza Colocci
Piazza Angelo Colocci, named after the Jesi-born humanist Angelo Colocci, played a leading role in past centuries as the public center of civic power for the Free Commune and, later, the Papal Government.
Overlooking the square is the imposing Palazzo della Signoria, originally the seat of the city magistracy before being transferred to the Papal Governor’s administration.
Elegant and harmonious, the square is also home to several buildings of remarkable historical and architectural significance, including the former residence of the Colocci-Vespucci Marquises, now a House Museum; the former Church and Convent of Saint Augustine; and Palazzo Bisaccioni, which today hosts the Jesi Savings Bank Foundation, the ideal continuation of the historic bank of the same name.
