The Printing Museum was founded in 2000 to recall the long and important printing tradition of the town, which was the first in the region to witness the birth of a printing house and, at the same time, to have one of the first editions of the Divine Comedy (masterpiece of the famous Italian poet Dante Alighieri) printed in 1472 by Federico de’ Conti.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The museum is housed in the 16th<\/sup>-century Palazzo Pianetti Vecchio in Via Valle and extends along a wide and bright hall where presses and printing machines from different periods as well as rare and valuable books are displayed.<\/p>

The presses, printing machines and tools, including an interesting collection of movable types, are all locally sourced and recall the history of printing from a technological point of view.<\/p>

The volumes on display retrace the history of printed books from incunabula (early printed books) to beautiful 19th<\/sup> century examples.<\/p>

The museum also preserves the archives of the printing houses from which the machines come from.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Upon\u00a0purchasing\u00a0an\u00a0admission\u00a0ticket to the museum, people\u00a0who\u00a0request\u00a0it\u00a0can\u00a0have\u00a0at\u00a0their\u00a0disposal\u00a0the\u00a0presses\u00a0for\u00a0their\u00a0own\u00a0personal use (see\u00a0regulations).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

ARCHIVES AND LIBRARY<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
In a special room the museum\u00a0preserves\u00a0the\u00a0archives\u00a0of some printing\u00a0houses\u00a0of Jesi,\u00a0which\u00a0gather\u00a0mostly\u00a020<\/span>th<\/span>-century\u00a0documents\u00a0relating\u00a0the history of the\u00a0town. In the\u00a0same\u00a0room a small library\u00a0is\u00a0arranged,\u00a0which\u00a0is\u00a0specialised\u00a0on\u00a0subjects\u00a0related\u00a0to\u00a0printmaking\u00a0techniques and to the history of the book and printing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
