Frederick II and Le Marche in the Middle Ages

The legacy left by Frederick II in Le Marche is not perceivable from the outside, as it is not made up of visible traces, finds and ruins, but of silent archival documents. Yet this legacy is visible in every corner of the region: witness the walled settlements, monasteries, urban centres, palaces and churches where courageous people were born, some supportive of the Emperor, others hostile to him, all so powerful as to found very long-lived dynasties.
Frederick II's Le Marche were riddled with struggles, alliances and divorces, political and social changes, artistic and linguistic experiments. The Region has built on this past, and we would like to invite you to get to know it through these paths, which focus on the municipalities affected by the 2016 earthquake.
